New Members

  • AP Trust - Digital repository with 20 university members, running on AWS with a minimum of AWS
  • Ohiolink
  • Vintage Computer Federation

University of British Columbia

  • Bronwyn Meme
  • Based out of the Digital Services Portfolio (Digitization, Scholarly Communication, Digital Repository, Digital Preservation)
  • Archivematica used to apply OAIS processes and to integrate with existing staff and service resources
  • Development done with Archivematica since 2011, focus was on digitized content
  • Gap analysis flagged digitized, born-digital, and institutional repository for need
  • Pipelines
    • DSpace (institutional repository)
    • ContentDM (digitized material)
    • Educloud (redundant storage service)
    • Video Processor
    • Atom (digitized and born-digital archival material)
  • Integrations
    • Artefactual-Artefactual systems are relatively easy to integrate
    • ContentDM integration is relatively more difficult because the DIPS already exist in ContentDM, so Archivematica must produce a text-file to associate the AIP UUID with records in ContentDM
    • DSpace (CIRCLE) uses the Replication Task Suite to automate the ingest of uploaded material
      • For a program creating videos of math lectures, masters are deposited directly to Archivematica and only service copies are added to DSpace for size reasons
  • TRAC self-audit in 2014
    • Used the MIT-Artefactual TRAC review tool, which was a key reason to choose the TRAC audit
    • Audited documented weaknesses in infrastructure, security management, and evidence
    • In order to address specific areas for improvement, the library created a digital preservation working group with representatives from many library members
    • Long-term, the working group is recommending regular convenings and a digital preservation communications program.
