Meeting Notes

Participants discussed next steps. All agreed that a base-level white paper could be use to fulfill other potential uses down the road, including an update at the Digital Preservation 2013 meeting, feed into the Library of Congress Sustainability web site or provide the basis for a presentation at the PDF Associations' Technical Conference North America 2013, August 14-15, 2013 in Seattle, Washington.

There was broad discussion on the form of the white paper, and Sheila volunteered to take the first crack at another draft. The document will be an impartial presentation of the various workflows for PDF/A-3 documents as they enter an archive. Appendices may be used to capture an "ideal" workflow from the perspective of a preserving organization.

Actions

• NARA participants will submit a bulleted list of potential negative effects of the failure to adequately implement a PDF/A-3 regime.
• Butch will contact Duff Johnson about possibilities for participation in the Technical Conference North America
• Sheila will compile the next draft of the white paper, with an early July target date.
