Action Items

DP14 recap

  • Was a success! Innovation had Awards handouts, breakfast meet up, and Q&A session. We should aim to have a live event next year
  • Open forum provided an opportunity for questions - leverage that for other events and outreach
  • How can we encourage/host similar sessions at other conferences
  • Call to NDSA lists for ideas for conferences to present at on this topic

Q&A outreach

  • Ping NDSA-All for a list of lists
  • Author an info email to other orgs/groups
  • Get regional groups in the mix
  • Get affiliated newsletters in the mix
  • JB has blog post coming up for LIPA
  • Maybe have a calendar of outreach activities we can share and all work on

Insights Interviews

  • Over 50 entries in the Insights Interviews series!
  • Jane has one with astronomer from DP14
  • Jefferson has one on Digpres survey
  • Trevor has many, including Ippolito
  • A couple from previous call are still in queue

New Ideas

  • JB has two short paper ideas:
  • 2-3 page plain language doc that explain current challenges in web archiving to non-technical / general public
  • Digital Disaster Planning: lots of disaster planning docs for LAMs but none digital specific; can be guidance doc or instructions for holding a mock digital disaster or some other form of. Disaster needn't be loss of data, but can be stuff going offline, etc.
  • Session ideas for preservation metadata and building bridges with that community and digital preservation; better knowledge around when/how peeps using preservation metadata
  • Potential ALA session (in SFO in 2015) around this idea
  • Working with optical media is also an area of interest

  • Infrastructure is working on a packing list (?)
