Innovation Awards

DigPres Q&A

  • Located here: http://qanda.digipres.org/
  • People have just started using it, so have at it
  • We have an Innovation WG-sponsored session at DP14 where we will add existing Qs and As from zombie Stack Exchange, google group, others
  • Sheila has given us a name for this event: Coffee, Bagels, and Queries!
  • Co-chairs and any volunteers will work on formalizing a process for this
  • It may have to be an early afternoon session, though, due to DP14 schedule
  • We will continue to add new content under the radar
  • We will ping NDSA-All about the session once it is formalized
  • Down-the-road ideas: twitter hashtag? Auto-tweet out new questions?

Ideas Challenge

  • DSII: http://dsii.ideascale.com/
  • Some ideas, not a whole lot -- please add if you have any
  • Great idea to interlink the Q&A site and the Challenge IdeaScale, i.e. issues that come up in one can be seeded into the other
  • Not sure this will be ready for DP14 - maybe a slow boil

Other NDSA Goings-on

  • Official NDSA Communications Officer position is in the works! Approved by Coordinating Committee. More details soon.
  • New member "onboarding" process is being formalized.
  • 2015 National Agenda is coming together. Last chance for input - draft previously sent, contact co-chairs if you have input. The doc will be presented to funders and big-wig types in a special meeting at DP14.
  • Outreach WG is forming an education sub-group if anyone is interested.
  • A Web Archiving survey report is in the works and will be sent around for comment in June. Jefferson is helping write and will send to Innovation WG for feedback if it doesn't go to NDSA-All

Recent Conferences or Events feedback (anonymized!)

  • Archiving 2014 - Interesting, but needs to transition away from the hardware specs and imaging stuff to thinking more about preservation challenge. Good presentations on born-digital architectural records and bwFLA emulation stuff, but needs a reboot overall
  • ARSC - Good project on Guyana Media Project and rapid mobile assessment of endangered collections
  • Digital Humanities Data Curation Institute - (co-taught by Innovation Award winner Trevor Munoz) Had a strong digital preservation focus - great course!
