NDSA Innovations Working Group Call Monday May 13, 2013 2pm-3pm

Action Items

  • Anne, Bailey, Matt will join Jane, Jefferson, Trevor on Awards committee
  • Anne & Bailey will work on interviewing DPLA
  • Anne & Bailey will work on interviewing BAVC
  • Jefferson will interview NYARC reps re web archiving report
  • Trevor will follow-up with Bob Horton re speaker series
  • Jefferson will start a shared doc on practical & cost-oriented digital forensics info
  • Jefferson will start a shared doc on innovative curriculum & pedagogy re digital stewardship

Innovation Insights Award

  • Nomination period closes this week
  • Team-members will get a doc of the nominations next week and will convene for a call the week of 5/27 to choose winners.

Innovation Interviews

SWAT & Forensic Workstations

  • Jefferson will create a google doc to consolidate practical advice, especially with a focus on costs and expertise required and cost-benefit levels of vendor v. DIY.
  • Working Group can perhaps help solicit the advice of practicing professionals. Potential short white paper?

Speaker Series

  • Trevor will try to wrangle Bob Horton of IMLS
  • Jefferson will try to wrangle NHPRC and possibly Josh Greenberg from Sloan Foundation

Digital Stewardship Curriculum

  • There will be a session on this topic at NDSA Summer meeting
  • Idea includes aforementioned Kickstarter student project idea
  • Idea is to document, highlight, scan innovative methods of teaching digital stewardship to students. This can include hands-on, tool-based work, collection creation, institutional partnerships, and other novel curriculum models.
  • Jefferson will create a google doc for capturing ideas.
