Innovation Awards & DSII

  • Timeline:
    • March 17 (week of) - Announce and open nominations via Signal blog post (post can be 95% recycled content)
    • Friday, April 25 - Deadline for nominations
    • Friday, May 16 - Have selected and contacted winners
    • June - blog post announcing winners before DP14 (min-July)

  • Jane will notify Innovation, then NDSA-All
  • It will be announced separately from Awards, but will have the same reviews and general timeline

DigPres Q&A

  • Need to revive the conversation with OPF about if this is ready to go forward
  • We will work to start adding content under the radar
  • Will then ping WG, then NDSA-All
    • Potential content sources: old StackEx, Digital Curation Google Group, digpres@ala list, Bert Lyons NYT articles
  • Potential for launch at DP14

National Agenda 2015

  • Soliciting new Research Ideas for the next agenda
  • Ideas:
    • Delivery of complex objects via emulation -- complex in that they aren’t packaged but instead distributed and thus their mappings may also need preservation
    • Research on algorithmic screening or assessment of privacy or copyright information
    • Research on named entity recognition (NER), natural language processing (NLP), semantic text analysis, topic modeling, etc, for automating archival description (or as wayfinding/pathway discovery mechanism)
