Archive-It

  • About/Description: Archive-It, a subscription service from the Internet Archive, allows institutions to harvest and preserve collections of digital content and create Digital Archives. Through a user-friendly web interface, Archive-It partners can catalog, manage, and browse their archived collections. Collections are hosted at the Internet Archive data center and are accessible to the public with full-text search. All collections are listed here: http://archive-it.org/public/all_collections.html. There is also a seed URL registry here: http://archive-it.org/public/urlRegistry.html

GPO Federal Digitization Registry

  • About/Description: The Registry contains records for projects that include digitized copies of publications originating from the U.S. Government. It serves as a locator tool for publicly accessible collections of digitized U.S. Government publications; increases awareness of U.S. Government publication digitization projects that are planned, in progress, or completed; fosters collaboration for digitization projects; and provides models for future digitization projects.

  • How to contribute: To contribute to the Registry, login and use the "My Registry" tab to view, add, and edit your listings.

LOCKSS publishers and titles list

  • About/Description: Links to over 6,600 e-journal titles from approximately 450 publishers with ISSN and eISSN, available as .csv, .xls, .ods, .pdf

  • How to contribute: Publishers must first make their titles LOCKSS-compliant. LOCKSS Alliance members can then collect and preserve all Open Access titles as well as those e-journals to which they subscribe.

MetaArchive Cooperative conspectus data

  • About/Description: A listing of all collections preserved in the MetaArchive Cooperative's Private LOCKSS Network (PLN). Contains name of Archive (one of several subject or genre-based networks within the larger MetaArchive network), Collection title (with link to collection-level description), Number of Archival Units (AUs) associated with collection, Plugin name, and Content Provider (MetaArchive partner) name.
  • Numbers of archives listed: 18 content providers
  • How to contribute: MetaArchive members fill out collection-level entry when submitting digital material for preservation by the network. This list shows collections already ingested for preservation.
  • Content Type: primary digital cultural heritage material: websites, digital images, digital audio, digital video, digital documents, plus electronic theses and dissertations.

NDIIPP Partner Collections

  • About/Description: "Preservation partners from around the world are selecting and preserving at risk digital content. Use this interface to explore what has been collected so far." This interface allows faced searching and browsing of records that point off to collections at various partner websites. There is information about access restrictions and basic subject categorization, as well as type of content.

  • How to contribute: Right now, LC is building this based on a spreadsheet of information gathered from NDIIPP partners since the beginning of the program. Trevor Owens at LC has created the interface in Recollection and is interesting in talking with the CWG about how we could populate this registry more easily and more automatically.

International Coalition on Newspapers US Newspaper Digital projects

  • About/Description: The International Coalition on Newspapers is a coordinated multi-institutional effort to increase the availability of international newspaper collections by improving both bibliographic and physical access to global newspaper collections.
  • Numbers of collections/objects (however they count): 139 U.S. websites/newspapers listed (some, like NDNP, themselves include numerous newspapers, but may also duplicate the other listings); some of these do not have links or have links that are behind paywalls.
  • How to contribute: CRL invites major research libraries outside its membership to participate in the Global Resources Network ICON program. Participants pay an initial, one-time contribution of US$4500 and a subsequent annual subscription fee of $1500. These funds will augment the financial support provided to this important program by CRL, its 242 U.S. and Canadian research libraries, and its other funders.
