What is the highest-level concept in the digital preservation universe? (Assuming that it's possible to choose one...)

Save
Preserve
Sustain

Whatever we decide it is, all the other concepts should fall under it. So, if, for example, we decide "save" is the highest-level concept, then all the items below should be the high-level motivations that would compel someone to save something. Let's order them from the most "positive" conception of sharing to the most "negative":

"Rescue"

Protect
Preserve
Safety
Security
Help
Prevention
Triage

"Sharing"

Stewardship
Educate
Instruct
Engagement
Communication
Leadership
Efficiency

"Investment"

(“Investment” suggests saving to support growth over time.)

Value
Growth
Advancement
Innovation
Creativity
Wealth
Modernization
Competitiveness

"Retrieval"

Memory
Evidence

"Accumulation"

Reserve
Hoard
Monopolize
Sustain
Retain
Maintain

"Risk Mitigation"

("Loss" is the negative emotional side of "save." Included somewhere in “risk mitigation” is the idea that people are compelled to save by outside forces.)

Loss
Fear
Culpability
Risk
Defense
Escape
Guard
Aversion
Hedge

Change

"Salvation" (outside of scope?)
