In November 2011, the Content Working Group approved the following Digital Preservation Registry Fields.

Unless otherwise noted, all fields are required. It is up to the individual institution member to define what a collection is.


Collection Information

  • Primary Subject Matter
  • Name of Specific Collection
  • Collection Availability (reflecting one of the following conditions):
    • Online
    • Research Use - Need to register or apply to host institution.
    • Onsite - Must come to physical location for access
    • Restricted - No current access
    • Mixed - Some materials are available online, others are not.
  • URL (If Online)
  • Collection Start Date (Optional) - Publication date of earliest item in the collection
  • Collection End Date (Optional)- Publication date of latest item in the collection
  • Collection Location (Optional) - What geographic locations does this collection pertain to.)
  • Content Type (born digital, digitized from tangible materials, mixed)
  • Description
  • Level of Digital Preservation (Level 1, II, III)
  • Other Notes
