NDSA:February 7, 2011 Standards Working Group Notes and Agenda
February 7, 2011 1:00 - 2:00 EST
In attendance: Andrea Goethals Jimi Jones Kate Murray Meg Phillips Mary Vardigan Shane Beers Karen Cariani Courtney Michael Jennifer Waxman John Spencer Matt Schultz (Others joined us after the meeting started. I apologize if I have left anyone out.)
First, Andrea walked us through the elements of the NDSA:Survey Template, which are being finalized by her action team which includes Shane Beers and Kate Murray.
Shane then showed us an early iteration of an entry form that he put together with Google Forms. While a very good first step there were still a couple of key issues that need to be worked out. For example, the Google Form doesn't allow the user to populate a field with more than one answer from a pulldown. Shane is going to explore other options (other than Google Forms) for creating a form that will address our needs.
There was discussion of the survey categories as they exist in the NDSA:Survey Template vs. what has been organized in the NDSA:Categories and Action Teams space on the wiki. It is clear that there should be parallels between the two. To this end I asked that the working group members who have not yet signed up for action teams please feel free to reconfigure the categories that are currently in the NDSA:Categories and Action Teams page and sign up for something they're interested in.
There was a brief discussion at the end of the meeting about the concept of "semantic wikis" and whether or not a semantic wiki would work as the final dissemination/display tool for the survey. More research into semantic wikis will be needed before we can make this decision.
