Every other call is a work meeting, and the others are for highlighting people working on digital stewardship.

Agenda

  1. Discuss the attached revised fixity check project draft. (This has been worked over and revised substantially since we last discussed it in a small sub group.) With some tweaking I think this is at the point where we could put out a beta version of it for broader comment.
  2. Review the open source infrastructure project talks/interviews from last year. Karen may send along a document trying to distill some of that work before the call.
  3. Short update on the NDSA storage survey
  4. Open suggestions for projects/programs/etc. to invite to present to the group. (Start thinking about these before the call if you have a few minutes).
  5. Kick off thinking about digital stewardship infrastructure issues to feature in the next National Agenda for Digital Stewardship.

Discussion

The document has had a fair amount of comments on email. What about for newbies; can there be a more brief document. It may not be appropriate for people that aren't familiar with these terms. Add sentences to briefly defines PREMIS and Trac, and point to online resources for more information. Look at the end where it says how the data was created and workflow information. Where will this document live, and what is this document, e.g., a factsheet or a guidance document?

Bill and Karen tried to pull together a summary of the four talks, but they were all very different. Islandora, Hydra, Archivematica and Open Planets. There were some themes, open source as an ecosystem. staffing and open source platforms. Does anyone want to jump in and help, or should they start over. The goal was to pull the presentations together and report out what the working group learned. The workng group decided they wanted to have these themed presentations together. Because their were blog posts on The Signal, they have been reported out. There was an attempt to pull out some cross-cutting themes, though. Trevor, Chelcie, Joe and Karen will attempt to work on this, and share via Google Doc before they bring it back to the larger group.
