Action Team Updates
1) Content Registry Team No update. Key members have been out of the office. Will regroup after the call to resume work.
2) Clearinghouse Team The Action Team had a call yesterday (5 Apr) to go over the spreadsheet created to categorize at-risk content. The spreadsheet contains information for why a certain content category is at risk, includes any current activities to preserve the content, and lists any obstacles to preserving content.
A digital content mindmap created by Abby Rumsey for NDIIPP was also identified as a useful resource for the group. It details the digital content that the Library of Congress and its NDIIPP partners could focus stewardship efforts on.
The spreadsheet and the mindmap will be emailed to the larger working group and saved on the Action Team wiki. CWG members are encouraged to comment on these documents on the listserv or by sending a message to Kristine. Some of what is on the spreadsheet may map to what the registry group is working on (in terms of the already preserved).
NDDIIP Partner meeting & NDSA Workshops
The Partners meeting will be held July 19-22. The theme is “Make it Work” and it will feature plenary sessions around the theme and time for NDSA working group sponsored workshops that will have a concrete outcome.
The Clearinghouse team has put forward the idea of going over the spreadsheet and mindmap during a face to face workshop so more feedback can be captured.
The Content Registry group will work on a workshop idea also.
Brett proposed an idea to for a workshop topic focused on specific processing questions so others facing similar issues can share experiences. He’ll submit the idea to Abbie to forward to the planning committee.
More ideas for workshops and the specifics about length, format, and resources required (i.e., design, programming, curatorial) will be collected for the next week or so. CWG members are encouraged to share ideas with the group via the listserv.
There will also be an option to hold a CWG meeting before or after the NDIIPP/NDSA meeting. A webex might be able to be set up for the smaller WG meetings but may not be suitable for larger workshops.
It was noted that the venue for the NDIIPP/NDSA meeting should be able to be set up for WG meetings and not just presentations. The room set up for collaboration is important.
An informal poll of the call attendees was taken regarding who would likely be at the July meeting - it sounded like many could not attend. We'll poll the wider CWG soon to get a sense across the working group to help us plan for July.
Next Meeting
Our next call will be May 4th at 11am EST. Agenda and call details to be sent a few days prior.
