Action Team Updates

1) Content Registry Team Daniel reported on this group's Action team plan. Summarized survey of existing registries. Definition of what we mean by digital preservation - (add definition to wiki page).

Step three - we had a brief hiatus but have prepared a survey for NDSA all members to see what registries they participate in. Quick turnaround asked for - by this Friday. 75 alliance members. Survey results as of this morning, 12 responses so far, expecting more. Results in progress shared, most questions have comment that will be useful to us. Added link to survey results. Danial announced password, anyone who wants it should ask him. Seems like a lot of people are not registrering their projects at all. Large agreement that there is interest in registrering with an NDSA registry if we come up with one.

will have more complete report after survey closes and team reviews results. Reminder will go out Thursday.

Next step - after survey closers, results to action team, conference call to discuss. Will make recommendation to adopt existing or create a new one.

2) Clearinghouse Team Kristine gave update on clearinghouse team. Making progress on action items. Face to face meeting in July will allow us to make additional progress. List of categories organized into 10 at-risk content. Attendance at meetings dwindled so we think face to face will help shape the next step in the work, didn't get much feedback via webex/email. Workshop will focus on strawman and workshop should help identify collections for preservation.

NDIIPP Partner meeting & NDSA Workshops

Doodle poll re: summer meeting attendance - we have several people that will be there Tues/Wed - 11 people. Perhaps others can attend. Proposals need to be in next week or two (by May 20).

Working groups = Clearinghouse workshop idea submitted, idea is to include bring strawman list (transmit into a visual chart to present it at workshop). Have examples of types of categories we are talking about (concrete examples will be good) - powerpoint slides, online, might help get people thinking about identifying specific collections (part 2 of workshop). Come up with action plan for next steps. 90 minutes planned.

Need an idea for Registry group - discussion of survey results of what sorts of things they'd like to see in a registry. How do we make it easy for them to participate, brainstorm how to get people to submit. Easy as possible for the right kind of projects. Focus is preservation, we shouldn't make it so easy that non-preservation projects can get in.

Workshops on July 20th. CWG meeting, if we want it, could be on the 19th, in the morning maybe (big speakers would start noonish). Other options are Wednesday dinner time (informal poll of the callers, sounds like this option might work for us. 2 hrs) or Thursday afternoon. Webex could be arranged for the CWG meeting, possible not for workshops.

Next Meeting

Our next call will be June 1 at 11am EST. Agenda and call details to be sent a few days prior.
