Role of the big picture group - panoptican
Concern from Michael at the time since we were talking about breaking up the larger group into more specific areas/groups - necessary to do to engage people - then there would be less opportunity for the discussion of the big picture, overseeing the entire Content Teams.
Smaller group to take an interest - a bit of a conceptual "exec. committee". Valuable to focus in, but valuable to stand back and squint at whole process.
Exec. committee not the right term really - concerned that wholistic view would be lost. Not a coordinating group. A group to take a look at the whole picture of content.
Noticing things that the larger group may want to take on.
An extra brain or eye for the group. What is the strategic vision of the group?
Suggestions: Map of activities across the groups - road map Shared sense of what we're working towards - helping to frame work of this group quarterly, we could spend some time looking at what's happening, seeing where natural alliances might occur. get people to work together where they are not. Looking at where there are no activities and find out what why,
each member of this group, report back? each of the big picture sign up for particular threads or groups to watch. defined areas of observation to track.
meet quarterly?
track things outside of NDSA
this group can help bring in outside prospective - has an ear to events outside the NDSA - can bring that in, things in community and users of content.
Keeping an eye on the whole, higher level. each takes on a section or activities and report back to the group, offer ideas. With an eye to the outside. Issues arising in larger community.
Make sure things that are need to get discussed are being discussed.
Similar discussions in DPLA. People focused on the work, not time to look up and out.
Having a pulse on the work that's happening but understanding the impact of the work on our groups and others.
there is overlap with other groups, need to be in tune with that. And not loose site of why we are doing this.
easier to solve the immediate problems sometimes. need a longer term view, help connecting people.
Michael will take a stab at writing a scope note and will distribute.
Work out over email what the teams are, state of the state - concept of map of what's happening with the Content Teams.
