The next Stories action team will be Thursday Oct. 20, 3pm EASTERN.

Digital Preservation in a Box Action Team

A general discussion on the next steps for the Digital Preservation in a Box activity.

Shane Beers mentioned that he has an intern at the U of Michigan starting in Jan. 2012 that will be working with the NDSA Outreach and Standards groups, helping to push the “Digital Preservation in a Box” activity forward with resource gathering and other activities.

Kim Schroeder at Wayne State is looking to explore starting Box student groups.

Storyteller action team

Amanda French describe the early work of the Storyteller action team. They are working to collect stories of data loss and preservation by soliciting stories from NDSA institutions.

The draft call for stories has gone out and it is ready to be distributed to wider groups.

She has set up a “draft” Omeka instance to display the stories once they have been fleshed out:

As homework, each NDSA outreach member should contribute one story, and should also encourage students to share their stories.
