The Ad Council was interested in the subject area but was not fully convinced that it rose to the level of national importance that they generally deal with. They did later provide some materials from a campaign they did for the National Trust for Historic Preservation that will help the Outreach group shape some preliminary proposal materials and early messaging. These items will also be posted on the wiki shortly. | The Ad Council was interested in the subject area but was not fully convinced that it rose to the level of national importance that they generally deal with. - Review of activities and outcomes from the Dec. 15-16, 2010 Organizing Committee meeting.
There was general agreement that the meeting made purposeful steps forward in advancing the cause of the NDSA.
Notes from the meeting are available on the wiki at http://www.loc.gov/extranet/wiki/osi/ndiip/ndsa/index.php?title=Organizing_Workshop_Notes
Many items were discussed at the meeting, with varying degrees of resolution and agreement. There was general agreement by the participants that the Outreach Working Group’s approach of pursuing a high-level marketing campaign was a sound one that had the support of many members.
The NDSA Secretariat is in the midst of reviewing the charter documents (http://www.loc.gov/extranet/wiki/osi/ndiip/ndsa/index.php?title=Charter) and will release new versions to be reviewed by the Organizing Committee participants over the next couple of months.
- Discuss Outreach Working Group organization of work and ongoing activities.
Daniel Cornwall, the chair of the “Statement of Purpose” action team discussed his goals for the group and encouraged participants to submit “brainstorming” ideas to the NDSA wiki. There was a wide-ranging discussion on recent wiki submissions and ideas for outreach.
Eugene Mopsik used the phrase ”pro-sumer” when talking about markets that combine the “professional” and “consumer” audience and this sounded like a phrase to remember.
John Spencer mentioned recent contact he had with the marketing firm Experian and volunteered to reach out to them to see if their work could inform the work of the “audience” action team (see the link to “Experian’s Lifestyle Consumer Mosaic” at http://www.experian.com/small-business/geodemographic-segmentation-mailing-lists.jsp).
- Review of call with the Ad Council NDSA:Ad_Council_Call_Dec._21,_2010.
