Rachel Frick, Jason Kucsma, Jennifer Ricker, Jefferson Bailey

The next call to choose awards will be scheduled the week of Dec 19-23. On this call we will discuss and choose the 3-5 awards that we want to give. Current ideas for possible awards are listed on the team wiki.

Call notes

Project timeline:

  • End of January – Coordinated plan for outreach, promotion, and solicitation of nominations will be ready by the end of January.
  • End of January – Detailed guidelines on the nomination criteria and who can nominate as well as the process for submitting nominations.
  • Feb-April/May – Evaluation (and continued solicitation( of nominations
  • May (mid/late) – Announcement of winners
  • July (mid) – Awards presented at the annual NDSA partners meeting

Project ideas

- Coordinate outreach & promotion plan with professional conferences over the course of the winter and spring. - Produce a one-page promotional hand-out/flyer with info & instructions for use at conferences and events. - Solicit nominations from digital preservation notables (Joy Davidson (DCC) & Bill Kilbride (DPC) were mentioned as possibilities; we can also draw on other NDSA partners) as potential “seed nominations” for use in promotion and to get the ball rolling. - Potentially publicizing nominees (even only in name or project name) in order to solicit more nominations. - Stress that contest is open to NDSA members and non-members alike. Anyone can nominate anyone. - Promotional messaging should be planned out and sustained.

Action items

- All – Select favorite awards ideas (from list or new); we will need to agree on 3-5 on the December call. - - Jefferson will work on the outreach & promotion plan and present it for comment in early January. - Jefferson will firm up the guidelines and instructions for nomination and also present it for comment and editing in early January. - Jefferson will determine LC internal procedures for accepting nominations and the public/private details as far as promotion or publicity
