Meeting Notes

National Digital Strategy Agenda document

Brainstorming ways to get the maximum impact for its release.

Action 1: Work together to generate list of press office contacts. We'll start developing a database/spreadsheet of press office contacts at each of the NDSA organizations. Butch will get an initial spreadsheet of contacts and then we'll divide up contacting different organizations to fill it out with press office contacts.

Action 2: Simultaneous press release? A goal is to organize the NDSA members to put out a simultaneous press release on the National Strategy document.

Organizations will need lead time for approval, ranging from a month to a couple of weeks.

The release date of the press release should be the first day of the Digital Preservation 2013 meeting, July 23, 2013. This gives us a hard date to work towards.

Need to draft press release. Consider variations for different groups (tech sector, InfoScience education, national press)

Other brainstorming on communication ideas around the National Strategy doc:

  • Strategic Partnerships: professional groups/AIM/ARMA/ (good opportunity to implement strategic partnership opportunities/outreach around the release of the Strategy doc)
  • Posted to Web (canonical location with easy-to-remember URL for common access).
  • Webinars (several on into the Fall to help guide an understanding of the doc. Participants will include Leadership group members but Outreach group members can also host and act as ambassadors)
  • Uncle Sam costumes
  • National Book Festival
  • Interview videos (need to think about scheduling filming/construction of videos. Interviews with Leadership group members having them describe the purpose, etc.)
  • Podcasts (use content from video)
  • Regional Meetings: Presentations
  • Proposals for other meetings: Start to look at dates for proposals (talking points for presentations) (communication tools, bullet points, slides, etc.)
  • NDSA Student groups

Digital Stewardship Now!

Discussed the NDSA:Digital Stewardship Now! concept. Decided that the name should be "Digital Stewardship Now" with the broad goal of including all pertinent digital stewardship info, not just limited to NDSA members.
