The group discussed the definition of what we mean by digital preservation - Abbie added a link to the definition on the Action Team's page (also here: http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/alcts/resources/preserv/defdigpres0408.cfm)

Step three - we had a brief hiatus but have prepared a survey for NDSA all members to see what registries they participate in. Quick turnaround asked for - by this Friday. 75 alliance members. Survey results as of this morning, 12 responses so far, expecting more. Results in progress shared, most questions have comment that will be useful to us. Added link to survey results. Danial announced password, anyone who wants it should ask him.

Seems like a lot of people are not registrering their projects at all. Large agreement that there is interest in registrering with an NDSA registry if we come up with one.

will have more complete report after survey closes and team reviews results. Reminder will go out Thursday.
It appears from the early results, that a lot of organizations are not registering their projects at all. So far, there seems to be large agreement that there is interest in registering with an NDSA registry if we come up with one. A more more complete report will be available after the survey closes and the team reviews results and has a conference call to discuss. A next step will be to make a recommendation whether to adopt an existing registry, or to create a new one.

Next step - after survey closers, results to action team, conference call to discuss. Will make recommendation to adopt existing or create a new one.
2) Clearinghouse Team
Kristine gave update on the Clearinghouse Action Team, which is making progress on action items. Face to face meeting in July will allow us to make additional progress. List of at-risk categories has been organized into a list of 10Attendance at phone meetings dwindled as did webex/email feedback, so the hope is that face to face session will help shape the next step in the work in an easier way.

2) Clearinghouse Team
==NDIIPP Partner meeting & NDSA Workshops==

Cathy recapped the Doodle poll re: summer meeting attendance. We have several people that will be there Tues/Wed - 11 CWG members. Perhaps others can attend. Proposals for the workshops need to be in to LC by May 20.

Workshops will be on July 20th, CWG will sponsor two and CWG and other NDSA members (or other NDIIPP partner meeting attendees) can attend.

==NDIIPP Partner meeting & NDSA Workshops==
The Clearinghouse workshop idea has been submitted.  The workshop at the July meeting will focus on a strawman document (a visual representation of the spreadsheet). Kristine would like to have examples of types of categories we are talking about to help spark discussion - whether Powerpoint slides, online, TBD. This might help get people thinking about identifying specific collections for preservation(part 2 of workshop). We'd like to end the workshop with an action plan for next steps. 90 minutes is planned.

The group discussed possible ideas for another workshop that CWG sponsors. One idea is a discussion of the survey results of what sorts of things they'd like to see in a registry; how do we make it easy for them to participate, brainstorm how to get people engaged. One goal would be, make it as easy as possible for the right kind of projects. Focus is preservation, we shouldn't make it so easy that non-preservation projects (strictly digitization) can get in.

We talked about holding a separate CWG meeting as well. Wednesday dinner time (2 hrs) seemed the best time/day for attendees. An informal poll of the callers, sounds like this option might work for us. 2 hrs). Webex could be arranged for the CWG meeting, but probably not for workshops given logistics.

Action Team Updates

1) Content Registry Team Daniel reported on this group's Action team plan and summarized the survey of existing registries. The group discussed the definition of what we mean by digital preservation - Abbie added a link to the definition on the Action Team's page (also here: http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/alcts/resources/preserv/defdigpres0408.cfm)
