Agenda

Review final draft of 2015 NDSA Digital Stewardship Agenda and discuss it’s release

Notes

Attendees: Micah Altman, Carol Minton-Morris, Andrea Goethals, Jonathan Crabtree, Robin Ruggaber, Helen Tibbo, John Spencer, Jane Mandelbaum, Abbey Potter, Michelle Gallinger, Abbie Grotke, Erin Engle

Key Points:
Reviewed significant updates to the Agenda document, including the shortening of the Executive Summary and the addition of section 2.1 on digital content selection at scale.

The Executive Summary will be the most read part of the document and should truly be a summary; the recommendations included in it are only the core ones. The CC reviewed and edited language in the recommendations to ensure clarity and inclusiveness. Some sections were moved to reflect a better flow of ideas.

Some language was altered in order to resonate with commercial and VC communities and some was altered to strengthen a statement. Language about the Library of Congress contribution to the NDSA was discussed. Previous edits from Library management had removed all mention of the Library from the Agenda document. Library of Congress staff are still listed in the author section.

Participants in the call decided in follow-up emails to include the following language in the “About NDSA” section of the Agenda document: The Library of Congress provides essential organizational support, logistical support, and substantive collaboration and expertise.

All of these edits are transparent in the shared document in File> Revision History: [1]

Decisions and Actions:

The Agenda will be released on September 1 to NDSA members via the NDSA listserv. This release will be a pre-publication draft. The final report will be released to the public on September 15, 2014.

Will plan an outreach campaign for the NDSA agenda with Library of Congress and CC members.
