Revision as of 09:14, 30 March 2021

The IT and Development subgroup will focus on specific software, hardware, and development practices associated with information organizations. Once a list of technologies associated with specific areas is compiled, they will begin addressing the accessibility concerns of specific entries.

Monthly Meetings

Starting in March of 2021, DLF DAWG IT/Dev subgroup will be focusing on completing accessibility reviews of GLAM technologies. The initial focus is on the things that the DAWG parent group uses, to ensure that as a community we are using accessible tools to do our work. Then we'll move on to other GLAM technologies.

Meetings will be held on the final Monday of the month, at 11am Eastern/3pm GMT. (Timezone converter) Join the DLF DAWG slack community to register for meetings.

Technologies Currently Being Researched

Everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of your own personal level of skill with accessibility auditing. We've compiled an Accessibility Auditing Shortlist that anyone can use to contribute to the knowledge base. The ultimate goal for all of these audits is to make the information freely available to anyone. Contact the Organizers for information on how to join the community and get wiki editing access.

Future Technologies to Research

  • Zendesk (possible way to crowdsource accessibility info)
  • Institutional Repositories (bepress, DSpace, etc.)
  • DAMs (Contentdm, Islandora, etc.)
  • Library Systems
  • Virtual Tours
